NUA Impact

I'm really excited to write this blog post as I am interning in Central High School through New Urban Arts!

NUA has three different constituents;

1. Youth
• Specifically high school age, low-income and communities of color.
• The goal here is to provide youth with creative opportunities and exposure to art that they are normally deprived of
2. Emerging artists
• This would be their volunteers who come in and work with the youth on a variety of music and art projects whether its sowing, printmaking, or music classes
3. Visitors
• NUA uses their space not only for youth but also for PD workshops, outside artist space, public performances and exhibitions

There are 37,944 people estimated to live in the 02908 zipcode, of that 36% of those people are of ages 12-17. Of that group of youth only 32% live in a two parent household. There are 950 youth ages 3-17 who are not enrolled in school. The median housing income is around $42,000 what is interesting though is that the American Fact finder website could not provide an unemployment number.
